Art in the Sky December 23, 2011 - Loon Mtn - Through the Artist eye and Mountain Club at Loon presents "Art in the Sky". This event will run from Friday January 13th to Sunday January 15th from noon to 9pm. Featuring kaleidoscopic and whimsical designs by Fallon Leigh O'Brien, sculpture art by Martin Foley and a bewildering array of delicious teas from Moondream tea co. This event is the first of its kind at the Mountain Club and with enough support can turn into something we do more frequently. Support the Arts! |
Andy Finch Reps China Peak December 22, 2011 - Professional snowboarder, Andy Finch, will be working closely China Peak this season to revamp their terrain park. Located in California, the resort will partner with Finch to design features for their park named the “China Town Terrain Park”. In addition, Andy Finch will be visiting the resort over a series of set dates to help promote the resort. –G.W. |
Mount Snow's Bluebird Express Debut December 12, 2011 – Mount Snow started off the season with the opening of their new lift. At the cost of $8.5 million, the Bluebird Express is the “only high speed detachable six passenger bubble lift” in North America. The lift can transport passengers to the summit at 3,600 feet in just about seven minutes, half the time it took for the replaced chair lift. –G.W. |
Lake Placid Named One Of "Best 10 Winter Trips 2012" December 12, 2011 – National Geographic has named Lake Placid as one of “The Best Winter Trips 2012”. Located in New York, this Olympic village provides activities such as bobsledding, Be a Biathlete event, speed skating, and more. “The wide array of activities in and around Lake Placid continues to make the region a favorite destination amongst winter travelers.” –G.W. |
Fun Events At Brighton December 7, 2011 - Brighton is kicking off the season with fun events for all. On December 10th, the ski resort is hosting the Gnu Greenhorn Games which invites kids 13 and under to compete in a snowboard contest with lots of prizes. Brighton has also opened up a section of the resort for night time skiing starting December 7th for those who don’t have time during the day. -G.W. |
Nanshan Open Celebrates 10th Birthday In Beijing
November 30, 2011 - The Nanshan Open celebrates its 10th consecutive year in Beijing on January 14-15. Not only has it already been a decade since this event has helped promote snowboarding in China, TTR recently gave the Nanshan Open a 5Star status increasing its significance as the biggest snowboard event in Asia. This event has pushed snowboarding in China to the next level and will continue to provide up and coming snowboarders a chance to compete with other riders. -G.W.

Carinthia Terrain Park of Mount Snow Steps Up With New Park Manager Carinthia of Mount Snow is one of the biggest terrain park systems on the East coast and now, they are taking it to the next level by hiring Day Franzen. Raised in Virginia, Franzen is a well known terrain park designer who has worked at big resorts such as Kingvale in Lake Tahoe. Although he’s got big shoes to fill, he’s confident that this opportunity will allow him to “continue that progression” set by previous terrain park managers and “continue doing the great things our guests have come to expect.” With the addition of a new terrain park manager, Mount Snow hopes to keep their spot as the number one park in the East. |
