February 1, 2012 – Starting today, RadXSports (an extreme and action sports magazine) will have its own channel in the ZYNG system. The video magazine company has signed a deal with the ZYNG network which will be aired in lodging units throughout the US. January 5, 2012 - The month of January is an important month for ski resorts across the country. To encourage people to get out in the winter months, Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month (LSSM) is working with resorts to offer ski lesson packages. Online retailers are even giving out gift cards to buy snow gear with proof that the individual took a lesson in the month of January. January 5, 2012 - Despite mother nature's uncooperative efforts this winter season, Gore Mountain's new snowmaking machines made up for the lack of snow. With hard work, the resort opened up the only halfpipe available in the east coast. In addition, there are 12 miles of ski runs open to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. - G.W.

December 23, 2011 - Loon Mtn - Through the Artist eye and Mountain Club at Loon presents "Art in the Sky". This event will run from Friday January 13th to Sunday January 15th from noon to 9pm. Featuring kaleidoscopic and whimsical designs by Fallon Leigh O'Brien, sculpture art by Martin Foley and a bewildering array of delicious teas from Moondream tea co. This event is the first of its kind at the Mountain Club and with enough support can turn into something we do more frequently. Support the Arts!

December 22, 2011 - North American-based Subaru Freeskiing World Tour and European-based Swatch Freeride World Tour have joined forces to bring competitive big mountain skiing and snowboarding to the next level. This partnership will help sustain the growth of both competitions globally with an additional event in Revelstoke, BC for 2012. December 22, 2011 - ESPN - This year’s female Winter Dew Tour schedule has been changed due to the amount of participants in the previous years. Traditionally, the Dew Tour consisted of three stops for both men and women. However, as put by the Dew Tour manager, "Since not a lot of the elite-level girls competed in all three stops, we felt going to two stops would provide a less-demanding schedule and more of an opportunity to get the best athletes there, and give them a better opportunity to win the Cup." Professional female snowboarder, Jamie Anderson, doesn’t “think it’s going to 'progress the sport' by taking away events from the women.” –G.W.

December 12, 2011 – Mount Snow started off the season with the opening of their new lift. At the cost of $8.5 million, the Bluebird Express is the “only high speed detachable six passenger bubble lift” in North America. The lift can transport passengers to the summit at 3,600 feet in just about seven minutes, half the time it took for the replaced chair lift. –G.W.
