9 June 2015 DenverPost--The International Olympic Commitee established four new sports for the Winter 2018 Olympics in South Korea. The Snowboard Big Air will be judged on their aerial tricks and smooth landings. Hopefully in the future olympics they will add free skiing as a new sport. 12 June 2015. AA.

20 April 2015 Jackson Hole--Jackson Hole achieved their goal for a 10% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions this year. This includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions from electricity, natural gas/propane and vehicle fuels by over 10%. They are the only resort in the U.S. to have an Environmental Management System which helped them achieve this possibility. 18 May 2015 AA

13 April 2015 Ski Vermont--Jay Peak Resort reported an astonishing 357 total inches as of April 13, 2015. This is very surprising seeing that many resorts did not get very much snow this year and had to end their season early. The average amount of snow in Vermont is 250 inches. May 18 2015. AA

This means hand dug half pipes and no ski lift rides to the top. Nate Holland, who is the legends race winner, describes the event as ā€œOne day is a race and the other day is freestyle, and thatā€™s how it used to be growing up. 12 Mar 2015 The Spokesman Review--The National Ski Area Association reported that 32 fatalities out of 56.5 million skiers/snowboards were reported for the 2013-2014 season. This new statistic however is a 20% decline compared to the past 10 years for the ski-industry. Even though the chance of death is low for skiing, it still can happen even with helmets. 11 Mar 2015 The Oregonian--Katelyn Kitzke who broke her arm from snowboarder, Donald Kent, accused Mt. Hood Skibowl for serving him alcohol and even a lift ticket knowing he was intoxicated. She sued the resort for $29,000 in medical bills, $6,000 in lost wages, and $90,000 for pain and suffering. Skibowl responded by saying there was no evidence for serving Kent alcohol as well as no evidence that he was drunk when selling him a ski ticket. April 30, 2015. AA.
